Australian and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board Ahpra

Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency & National Board (Ahpra)

The National Board is proud to support the work of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Strategy Group for the National Scheme. Working in collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health sector leaders and organisations, National Boards, AHPRA and accreditation authorities, the Strategy Group aims to achieve equity in health between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and other Australians.

Functions of the Board

The functions of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia include:

  • developing standards, codes and guidelines for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice

  • approving accreditation standards and accredited courses of study.

  • registering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health practitioners and students

  • handling notifications, complaints, investigations and disciplinary hearings
