Description
Ken Wyatt, who has Yamatji, Wongi and Noongar ancestry, reflects on his extraordinary life journey—from being born on the Roelands mission in Western Australia, shaped by his mother’s forced removal as a child, to growing up in a remote railway camp as one of ten siblings. After a career in teaching, he entered politics in his fifties, joining the Liberal Party and, in 2010, becoming the first Aboriginal member of the House of Representatives. His inaugural parliamentary speech, delivered wearing a kangaroo skin cloak gifted by Noongar elders, traced his path from Roelands to Canberra.
